Personal Home Care - Basic

Your personal home care plays an important role in having a beautiful, healthy smile that lasts a lifetime. It consists of eating balanced meals, and correct use of the various dental aids that help control the plaque and bacteria that cause dental disease. There are three important treatments that should be practiced every day:

  • Tooth brushing - brush your teeth at least twice a day, in the morning and before going to bed, using a soft toothbrush and toothpaste. Brush your tongue, too.
  • Flossing - is the best way to clean between the teeth and under the gum line. Flossing not only helps clean these spaces, it disrupts plaque colonies from building up, preventing damage to the gums, teeth, and bone.
  • Rinsing - it is important to rinse the mouth with water after brushing, and also after meals if you are unable to brush. It is a good idea to consult your dentist or dental hygienist which process is the most appropriate for you.
